Description.
This project explores how one person’s choices can create the path the rest of us follow, especially within our families. It tells my father’s migration story and examines how his decision to leave home reshaped the future of our family. This project also explores how my fathers path has influence my choices of becoming a teacher and wanting to help guide kids in the beginning of their paths. I want to show through my stories how teachers also guide and influences the paths of their students. Legacy happens when one person takes the first step, making it possible for others to follow. My father did this by immigrating, and I continue it by guiding students as a teacher.

My capstone, Paso Por Paso, connects to the TRACEWORK theme by exploring legacy through migration, mentorship, and family. TRACEWORK examines the cultural, social, environmental, and personal imprints that shape who we are and influence the futures we create. These legacies can be inherited, remembered, challenged, or transformed through the stories and experiences passed down across generations.
In Paso Por Paso, I reflect on how my father’s decision to leave his home and migrate changed the course of my family’s future. His sacrifices and perseverance created opportunities that shaped my own path and inspired my desire to become a teacher. Through publication and installation, I explore how guidance, resilience, and care can leave lasting impacts on others. The project views legacy as a series of steps, small actions and decisions that open possibilities for future generations to follow.
Medium one will be a editorial book that tells the migration story of my father.His story will show how his footsteps changed the path for the rest of the family.Intertwined with his story is my own story and how it was shaped the person I became.This book will include personal photos of my family as well as images that connect with the story.

Medium two will be an installation piece that will display people that represent mentor that changed our paths by having the snap of the people just be silhouettes. This piece will be interactive where people will able to write a word that represent their mentors anywhere on the silhouettes.
